The composition of WPC material makes it non-porous, reducing stain absorption. However, if neglected, accumulated dirt can absorb moisture, leading to mold and other issues. Proper cleaning not only maintains appearance but also extends lifespan by preserving the protective surface layer.

Preparation for Cleaning

Before starting, gather tools and prepare the area to avoid damage:

• Tools Needed: Soft-bristle brush, warm water, mild detergent (e.g., dish soap), sponge or microfiber cloth, clean towel.
• Avoid: Harsh chemicals, abrasive pads, or steel wool, as they can scratch or degrade the plastic component.

Prep Steps:

• Remove furniture or decor from the panels.
• Sweep or vacuum loose dust and debris using a soft brush attachment.
• Ensure the room is well-ventilated; test any cleaner on a small, inconspicuous area first.

Preparing the Cleaning Solution

• Mix a gentle solution: Add 1-2 tablespoons of mild detergent to a bucket of warm water. Stir without creating excessive foam to prevent residue.
• Alternatives: Use white vinegar diluted 1:1 with water for natural cleaning, or a manufacturer-recommended WPC-specific cleaner (e.g., from COOWIN or similar brands).

In addition, avoid using cleaning agents that contain harsh chemicals. These can seriously damage your wall panels. Avoid over-concentrated solutions, as they can leave a film that attracts more dirt.

Cleaning the Panels

When you’re done with the prep work, you’re next ready to clean your wallboard. Follow these steps for effective cleaning:

• Dip a sponge or cloth into the solution and wring out excess water to avoid dripping.
• Then use the sponge or cloth to scrub the surface of your WPC wall panel carefully. Wipe panels in sections, using gentle circular motions with light pressure.
• For grooves or textured surfaces (common in fluted panels). Use a soft brush to reach crevices without scrubbing hard.
• Clean from top to bottom to prevent streaks.

Removing Stubborn Stains

Hard-to-remove stains and marks on the wall panels require separate special treatment. For tough spots like grease or ink:

• Apply a WPC-specific cleaner or baking soda paste to the stain.
• Let it sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the cleaner to penetrate the stain.
• Then, use a soft brush to gently scrub the area.
• Finally, use water to rinse the soiled area thoroughly to avoid leaving a residue.

If persistent, consult the manufacturer. Please avoid solvents like bleach, which can discolor the panels.

Rinsing and Drying

• Thoroughly rinse with clean water using a low-pressure hose or bucket to remove all soap residue. Failure to do so may cause the wall panel surface to lose its luster.
• Dry immediately with a clean, dry cloth to prevent water spots or warping in humid conditions.
• Wait for your wall panels to dry entirely before repositioning the trim on the panels. And fans can speed this up.
